Punjab Introduces Dress Code and Discipline Rules for Educators

LAHORE (AIA) The Punjab Education Department has implemented a strict dress code for government school educators, aiming to promote a professional and disciplined learning environment.

As per a circular issued by the department, male teachers are required to wear formal attire, including a shalwar kameez, waistcoat, trousers, shirt, and tie coat. Regular shaving is mandatory. Female educators must wear modest shalwar kameez outfits paired with a scarf and closed shoes. The dress code strictly prohibits transparent or see-through clothing and footwear.

School heads have been instructed to enforce these rules immediately.

The circular also emphasises academic focus, character building, and discipline. Teachers are directed to prioritise syllabus completion, deliver daily lectures, and ensure proper supervision during breaks to prevent students from leaving school premises through the main gate.

Cleanliness and hygiene are also highlighted, with educators tasked to encourage students to wash their hands after using toilets, which must be equipped with water, towels, and soap.

The guidelines further instruct schools to conserve energy by turning off lights, fans, heaters, and water pumps and ensuring doors and windows are closed before leaving for the day.

The Punjab Education Department’s directive aims to enhance discipline and improve the quality of education across government schools.
