Applications Open for PAL’s Literary Residency for Young Writers

ISLAMABAD (AIA) The Pakistan Academy of Letters (PAL) has announced a 10-day Interprovincial Residential Program for Young Writers, scheduled to run from January 16 to 25 at its headquarters in Islamabad. The initiative aims to bring together writers under the age of 40 from across Pakistan to enhance their literary skills and foster interprovincial harmony.
The residency will offer participants accommodations, meals, and a stipend of Rs. 5,000 to cover travel expenses. During the program, selected writers will engage in workshops, discussions, and mentoring sessions led by renowned literary figures.
PAL’s initiative also emphasises inclusivity, ensuring proportional representation from Punjab, Sindh, Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, Balochistan, Azad Jammu and Kashmir, and Gilgit-Baltistan. Special attention will be given to gender balance, minorities, and differently-abled individuals.
To maintain quality, only 14 to 16 participants will be selected through a merit-based process overseen by a high-level committee. With the limited number of seats, competition is expected to be intense.
Aspiring writers can download the application form from PAL’s official website at www.pal.gov.pk. Completed applications, along with the required documents, must be submitted to the Deputy Director (Admin & Finance), PAL, Sector H-8/1, Islamabad, by December 23. Late submissions will not be entertained.
The names of successful applicants will be announced before the program begins. PAL encourages young writers to seize this opportunity to enhance their skills and contribute to Pakistan’s literary landscape.
