Government Rolls Out Rs20 Billion Ramadan Relief Package for 4 Million Families

ISLAMABAD (AIA) Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif has launched a Ramadan Relief Package worth 20 billion rupees in Islamabad, aiming to support millions of families during the holy month.
Speaking at the launch ceremony, the prime minister announced that under this package, cash transfers of 5,000 rupees will be made to 4 million deserving families through digital wallets, ensuring the process remains transparent.
He said the relief package would cover all four provinces, Azad Kashmir, and Gilgit-Baltistan, with round-the-clock supervision and monitoring. The prime minister stressed that this initiative would save people from the inconvenience of standing in long queues outside utility stores, adding that the Utility Stores Corporation would be privatised.
During his address, PM strongly condemned the terrorist attack at Darul Uloom Haqqania, stating that the incident has grieved the entire nation. He expressed confidence that the Khyber Pakhtunkhwa government would apprehend those responsible and ensure they face exemplary punishment. He reaffirmed the government’s determination to eradicate terrorism.
Minister for Industries and Production Rana Tanveer Hussain said cash transfers under the relief package would be completed within 10 days. He added that stalls would be set up at the tehsil level during Ramadan to provide sugar at 130 rupees per kilogram, while utility stores would offer essential commodities at a 15% discount.
