
Illegal SIM Operations Busted in Sukkur, Faisalabad; FIA Arrests Suspects
— February 14, 2025ISLAMABAD (AIA) The Pakistan Telecommunication Authority (PTA), in collaboration with the Federal Investigation Agency (FIA) Cyber Crime Wing, carried out raids in Sukkur and Faisalabad to curb the illegal issuance and sale of pre-activated international and local SIM cards.
In Sukkur, a raid at Clock Tower resulted in the confiscation of two international SIMs and five pre-activated Jazz SIM cards. According to a news release on Friday, the FIA took the shop owner into custody, and a first information report (FIR) has been lodged against him.
Meanwhile, in Faisalabad, joint raids were conducted at three locations, leading to the arrest of two individuals involved in the illegal sale of international SIMs. The authorities seized the recovered SIMs, and FIRs are being processed. Legal proceedings and further investigations are underway.
PTA reaffirmed its commitment to eliminating the unlawful issuance of SIMs and urged the public to report any such activities. These enforcement actions are part of an ongoing effort to maintain a secure and transparent digital environment in Pakistan.
