
137 Litres of Expired Drinks, Unsafe Food Destroyed in PFA Operation
— March 10, 2025MULTAN (AIA) The Punjab Food Authority (PFA) intensified its operations across Multan, Khanewal, Vehari, and Lodhran to ensure the supply of safe and high-quality food. Food safety teams conducted inspections at hotels, grocery stores, hospital cafeterias, and ice cream shops, imposing heavy fines for violations of hygiene and food safety standards.
During the crackdown, teams seized 137 litres of expired beverages and 10 kg of substandard food, which were promptly discarded.
In Multan, inspections at Nag Shah Chowk, Jinnah Road, and Nagana Chowk resulted in fines totalling Rs. 75,000 for three hotels due to poor kitchen hygiene, storing stale food in freezers, and failing to provide workers’ medical certificates.
In Khanewal, three beverage plants in Adda Rahim Shah and the 3 Marla Scheme near Fatima Masjid, Jahanian, were fined Rs. 35,000 for using bottles of other brands and producing drinks with zero Brix value.
Meanwhile, in Burewala, an ice cream shop was fined Rs. 7,000 for failing to maintain the required fat content in milk and lacking proper purchase records.
At Tehsil Hospital Kahror Pakka, the hospital canteen was fined Rs. 10,000 for selling expired beverages, while a grocery store in the same area faced a Rs. 10,000 fine for selling adulterated spices and storing food directly on the floor.
