Pakistan Remains Committed to Regional Peace and Global Cooperation: Zardari

ISLAMABAD (AIA) President Asif Ali Zardari on Monday reaffirmed Pakistan’s commitment to being a responsible, peace-loving nation, calling for enhanced cooperation with regional countries in trade, economy, climate action, and cultural exchange.
In his eighth address to the joint session of parliament, marking the start of the new parliamentary year, Zardari emphasised Pakistan’s dedication to regional peace, stability, and economic integration.
He stated that Pakistan’s foreign policy would always prioritise national interests, international cooperation, and the principles of sovereignty and mutual respect.
Highlighting Pakistan’s “time-tested” ties with China, he described the relationship as a cornerstone of Pakistan’s diplomacy.
“We will further cement our All-Weather Strategic Cooperative Partnership with China and continue to support the One-China Policy,” Zardari said, recalling his recent “fruitful” discussions with Chinese leadership, where he invited them to increase investments in CPEC to enhance regional and economic integration.
He added that both countries had reaffirmed their commitment to strengthening economic cooperation, ensuring that the benefits of the China-Pakistan Economic Corridor would extend across Pakistan.
The president also expressed deep gratitude to Pakistan’s “trusted friends,” including Saudi Arabia, the United Arab Emirates, Türkiye, and others, for their support during economic challenges.
“We are committed to further strengthening our longstanding historical, cultural, and economic ties with the friendly nations of the Gulf, Central Asia, the European Union, the United Kingdom, and the United States,” he said.
Referring to the recent arrest of top-tier ISKP terrorist Sharifullah, Zardari praised the success of US-Pakistan counterterrorism cooperation and stressed the need to build on these achievements to pursue shared security goals.
