Pakistan, Saudi Arabia Forge Joint Committee for Film, Documentary Production
— February 19, 2025RIYADH (AIA) Pakistan and Saudi Arabia have agreed to form a joint committee to promote collaboration in the production of songs, films, and documentaries, officials said on Wednesday.
The agreement was reached during a meeting between Pakistan’s Federal Minister for Information, Broadcasting, National Heritage, and Culture, Attaullah Tarar, and Saudi Arabia’s Minister of Media, Salman bin Youssef Al-Dosari, on the sidelines of the Saudi Media Forum.
Both sides also pledged to enhance bilateral cooperation in the media sector through exchange programmes and training for journalists. They stressed the importance of working together to combat fake news and propaganda.
At the forum, Tarar congratulated his Saudi counterpart for organising the fourth edition of the Saudi Media Forum. He remarked that the longstanding brotherly relations between Pakistan and Saudi Arabia are evolving into a robust economic partnership, noting that Saudi Arabia is regarded as a second home to Pakistan.
Tarar further highlighted that under the leadership of King Salman bin Abdulaziz and Crown Prince Mohammed bin Salman, Saudi Arabia has exceeded the ambitions of its Vision 2030, becoming a hub for commercial activity. He commended the Crown Prince’s visionary role in Saudi Arabia’s development and said that closer cooperation between the two countries would help promote peace and stability in the region.
He also pointed to ample opportunities for digital investment and technical collaboration between the nations. “The Saudi Media Forum is not just an event, but an opportunity for media organisations worldwide, including those in Pakistan, to explore new avenues of mutual cooperation,” Tarar said.
Saudi Arabia’s Minister of Media added that fostering cooperation with Pakistan across all sectors, including information, is a priority. He noted that a significant number of Pakistanis play an important role in Saudi Arabia’s development and announced that the next meeting of the Saudi-Pakistan Supreme Coordination Council will be held in Pakistan.
