UK Denies Hasina’s Asylum Request, Ex-PM Seeks Alternatives

DHAKA (AIA) Two days have passed since former Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina fled Dhaka and arrived in India, yet her ultimate destination remains uncertain. With the UK and USA reportedly closing their doors to her, Hasina is now exploring alternative options.
Sources claim that Hasina’s application for political asylum in the UK was denied. Consequently, she is now considering seeking refuge in the UAE, Saudi Arabia, and Finland. However, her son, Sajeeb Wazed, has denied these claims, stating that she has not sought asylum anywhere.
Wazed revealed that his mother might be travelling to destinations where family members reside, including the USA, UK, Finland, and India. With Wazed currently in Washington, his aunt in London, and his sister in Delhi, the family remains uncertain about Hasina’s exact whereabouts.
This development comes after Hasina’s resignation and departure from Bangladesh, marking the end of her 15-and-a-half-year rule. The nation remains gripped by uncertainty as the former leader’s fate hangs in the balance.
