Pakistan Appoints Amna Baloch as its New Foreign Secretary

ISLAMABAD (AIA) Amna Baloch assumed the role of Pakistan’s 33rd Foreign Secretary on Wednesday, succeeding Ambassador Syrus Sajjad Qazi, who retired upon reaching the age of superannuation.
Baloch, a seasoned diplomat, held key positions both in Islamabad and at Pakistan’s diplomatic missions abroad. She served as Consul General in Chengdu, China, from 2014 to 2017; High Commissioner to Malaysia from 2019 to 2023; and Ambassador to the European Union, Belgium, and Luxembourg from 2023 to 2024.

Baloch, who earned a master’s degree in history, joined the Foreign Service of Pakistan in 1991.
